What's going on at Dulce Refugio

I know that many people have passed through this orphanage and left their mark at Dulce Refugio. I want to keep all of you informed about what is going on with the kids and the construction process. Please remember to keep us in your thoughts and prayers; I hope you continue to help us out here at Casa Hogar Dulce Refugio. Gracias amigos!

I got to spend half of the month of September in the USA and the other half in Mexico. I had a great trip home and got to see lots family but had to get back to Aguascalientes because there is never a shortage of things to do for us volunteers here at Dulce Refugio.

I got to meet my new nephew!!! Ryder Isaiah Seski is such a little cutie and I was so glad I got to spend the day with him and my brother Tommy.

While I was home we celebrated my grandma's 105th birthday! September 5th is her birthday and we took her out to lunch to celebrate. It is a blessing to still be able to have her around....she just keeps going and going.

She must have been an amazing child growing up because the Bible says: "Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the Lord your God is giving you." -Exodus 20:12....That's my theory.

I arrived back in Aguascalientes on September 15...just in time to celebrate Mexico's Independence.

Mexican Independence Day is on September 16th but people start celebrating here on the 15th. I made it back just in time for the celebration. We had a big event at the Casa Hogar. Lots of food, events and Mexican flags/colors. It was a good time. VIVA MEXICO!!!

We received 3 new boys this month. They are brothers and their names (from left to right ) are Christopher, Dilan & Osiel.

Cinépolis, a large movie theater chain in Mexico, had an event for kids throughout Aguascalientes. They invited many schools and our orphanage to come watch a free movie. The theatre was packed...I had to sit on the floor. The selection was "The Nut Job 2" (Locos Por Los Nueces 2). Each person got a free popcorn and soda as well. It was very generous of the theater and the kids really enjoyed it. Thank you Cinépolis!

Gabi is back. She was sent to another facility for a couple of months but is now at Dulce Refugio again. Welcome back!

We got some more help! Thank you to Karis, a local from Aguascalientes, who is now living on site and helping out around the orphanage. She helps a lot in the kitchen and helps put the "chiquitos" (the very young boys) to bed. We really appreciate the help. Thanks Karis!

And there is not too much of an update in the construction. I was only able to work a couple of days this month. A few days after I got back from the USA I got sick and pretty much took a whole work week off. I'm feeling much better now and was able to get in a little bit of tiling. I did the tiles that required special cutting...lots of detail work. The 1st floor hallway is almost done. I just have to fill in that center space with some tile artwork.
