What's going on at Dulce Refugio

I know that many people have passed through this orphanage and left their mark at Dulce Refugio. I want to keep all of you informed about what is going on with the kids and the construction process. Please remember to keep us in your thoughts and prayers; I hope you continue to help us out here at Casa Hogar Dulce Refugio. Gracias amigos!

October was a great month! I got to celebrate many things, take a vacation, see friends & family and still get some work done on a few different projects. I praise God for my many blessings!

I'm officially one year older! We celebrated my birthday on October 1st. They planned a lunch for me at the local church that I attend and it was great to spend time with so many of my good friends. Afterwards, I went to the orphanage and had cake and ice cream with all of the kids. It was a great day! I hope God continues to bless me for many more years to come so I can use those years to serve Him!

I got to go home for a couple of weeks. I went to San Diego on October 6th. The reason for the trip was to celebrate my 20 year High School Reunion. I was in charge of planning/organizing the event and everything worked out perfectly! Close to 100 people came and we all had a great time. It was so good to see so many friends that I haven't seen in a long time.  Go Serra Conquistadors!

While I was home, I got to spend time with family. I also had lots of free time to rest and do some fun stuff. I saw my brother and his family up in Los Angeles. My nephews are so cute and growing up fast. I stayed with my parents and it is always a blessing to have these times together. I also did a hike that I've wanted to do for years. I've always seen pictures of "Potato Chip Rock" on top of Mt. Woodson, so I decided to finally go. It was a great vacation!

I flew back to Aguascalientes on October 20th. I've got to get back to work and keep going on the ministry happening down here.

I replaced the skylight on the boy's building at the orphanage. The old skylight was full of holes and it was almost like a light shower inside of the boy's building when it rained. It was a scary job because I had to be on a little platform about 4 stories up in the air as I screwed in the new laminates. We pulled the new material with ropes up to the roof of the building and I had some of the boys help me with some of the details...but not the dangerous parts of the job. Thank God everything went ok!

And I'm still helping Chevon, a fellow missionary, with her house. Not much of an update because we're still in the process of getting stuff out. It's going to take a while because there is A LOT of stuff and Chevon wants to be able to go through everything. I'm only going a couple of days a week in order to give her time to organize and allow her to do things at her pace. Slowly but surely we'll get to where we need to go. Please keep Chevon in your prayers. She's having issues with her health and we need wisdom about where she will be living after we sell her current house.
