What's going on at Dulce Refugio

I know that many people have passed through this orphanage and left their mark at Dulce Refugio. I want to keep all of you informed about what is going on with the kids and the construction process. Please remember to keep us in your thoughts and prayers; I hope you continue to help us out here at Casa Hogar Dulce Refugio. Gracias amigos!

I hope everybody had a Happy Thanksgiving! November was a great month and there is definitely so much to be thankful for.

We've started to look at new homes for fellow missionary, Chevon Clarke. Lately, she has needed a little more assistance with her daily tasks and currently lives on the other side of the city. We plan on moving her closer to my house and getting a smaller home in a nearby neighborhood. It will also be closer to many people in my church who have offered to help out. I have been investigating prices and seeing what is available. Hopefully we will find a great deal for Chevon real soon.

I've been staying busy, fixing things, at the Casa Hogar Dulce Refugio. Since it's lots of small jobs, I don't have much to show on the blog. But I do want to take a moment to share about Ruben. Ruben came to the orphanage a couple of months ago and has been such a blessing. He is a good kid and very mature. He learns things quickly and has been helping me out a lot. Last month he helped me fix some roof skylights and this month he helped me fix a bunch of doors, plumbing issues, and other random things. Please keep him in your prayers and pray that the Lord will bless his life.

We had a special guest at the new church building. Mexican missionary to Egypt, Sandra Urbina, spoke a couple of nights and gave a powerful message. I was very interested to hear how God was using her in such a difficult part of the world. She has sacrificed a lot to serve the Lord. It was also cool to see the new building full with people. God is truly blessing CFC Cañada Honda!

I got to go home for 4 days and spend Thanksgiving with the family. It was a short trip and a small gathering but I had a lot of fun and even more food. My brother and his family came to San Diego and we all stayed at my parent's house for a couple of days. I got to see my nephews and I was surprised when one of them came to the door with no front teeth. They're such cuties. It was nice to be home for the holiday!

I flew back to Aguascalientes, Mexico, on November 27th.

AND FINALLY I got to take a trip to the beach. On November 29th, 2021, my good friends Kyleigh Palmer and Luis Sotelo got married. It was a great time and I am so happy for the two of them. Kyleigh has been my "most faithful volunteer" over the years at the orphanage and has become a very good friend. Her husband Luis is also a good friend of mine. We met at the orphanage as well when he lived on site/volunteered for one year. It was a beautiful wedding on the beach in Ixtapa, Mexico. I wish them the best life together and may God bless their marriage!

Also as an added bonus, I got to bring my girls along. Kyleigh & Luis so generously invited the two of them to the wedding and paid for their hotel room. They have gotten to know Ariana & Elvira over the years and it was such a blessing that they got to be a part their special day. Besides the wedding, we got a lot of beach and pool time. Elvira got to go parasailing and Ariana decided to get a henna tattoo (since I say she's too young to get a real one). It was Ariana's first time ever at the beach. What a blessing the trip was. Thank you Kyleigh & Luis. May you live happily ever after!
