What's going on at Dulce Refugio

I know that many people have passed through this orphanage and left their mark at Dulce Refugio. I want to keep all of you informed about what is going on with the kids and the construction process. Please remember to keep us in your thoughts and prayers; I hope you continue to help us out here at Casa Hogar Dulce Refugio. Gracias amigos!

I hope everybody had a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! December was fun and full of good times with family. It was a nice close to 2021.

We got into the Christmas spirit. We decorated our girls home with some lights and a tree. Later the girls gave me their Christmas lists and I was able to leave their gifts under the tree before I went home for Christmas.

We had our big Christmas outreach at the new church building (CFC Cañada Honda). Over 100 kids showed up and there was a lot to do for all of them. A couple of days before the event we went to buy over 100 toys that we would give away. At the event there were games, a clown, a puppet show, prizes, piñatas, toys and more. But most importantly the kids were taught the real meaning of Christmas...that Jesus was born to save us from our sins and bring salvation!

I took my girls downtown to see the Christmas lights. The plaza in the middle of the city is always lit up very nicely by the government. It was a fun night hanging out together.

Camlo, one of my best friends from San Diego, came down to visit for a couple of days. We had a good time and I got to show him around Aguascalientes. It's always a blessing to be able to get together with friends!

I flew home on December 20th to spend Christmas with my family. My parents and I drove up to Palos Verdes, to my brother's house, and we spent Christmas at his place. It was fun to watch my nephews get really excited as they opened their gifts. And it is always a blessing to relax and spend time with family. I hope everybody had a great Christmas!

I flew back to Aguascalientes, Mexico, on December 31st, in order to be back in time for the new year.

I spent the New Year with one of my girls, Ariana, and lots of friends. We went to 2 different parties. First we had dinner with some of my friends. Afterwards we went to Kyleigh & Junior's house (two of my good friends/fellow volunteers from the orphanage) where we had a bonfire, smashed piñatas and set off fireworks right in the middle of the street...Viva Mexico! We celebrated till 5 in the morning and no neighbors complained! It was a fun night and a great way to close out 2021 and welcome in 2022.

I wish everybody a great 2022! Even with all the negativity that is going on in the world, there are so many good things that we can focus on. Time is flying so enjoy it! May God bless you and may you seek Him with all your heart this new year.

"And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God."
