What's going on at Dulce Refugio

I know that many people have passed through this orphanage and left their mark at Dulce Refugio. I want to keep all of you informed about what is going on with the kids and the construction process. Please remember to keep us in your thoughts and prayers; I hope you continue to help us out here at Casa Hogar Dulce Refugio. Gracias amigos!

March was a busy month. Full with lots of little jobs that aren't really blogworthy, so it's a short update this month. But I got to spend time with people that I care about/minister to and I also got to take a trip with some good friends to celebrate a special event.

At the new church building site, they started a "jovenes" (youth) group. It was a night filled with activities, worship, prayer and a message from the Word of God. The ministry "Gotas de Amor" (Drops of Love) has already been doing children's ministry for many years and now they are reaching the youth. There are also two church services a week that reach all ages. This church, in the town of Cañada Honda, is definitely shining the light of Jesus. It's awesome to see the building that we constructed being used for ministry that brings God glory!

At the new church building, I welded a steel cover for the water cistern. This was one of the minor jobs that I still had left over from the construction. There was a big hole in the ground that was covered by a wooden board but now it has a secure top.

I went to Cancún/Playa del Carmen for one of my best friend's bachelor party. It was a really fun trip! We hung out at the beach, went to the island of Cozumel and rented mopeds, went to multiple "cenotes" (beautiful ponds in the rock with crystal clear water) and just hung out. It was a nice get away and I'm so happy for my friend. Looking forward to the wedding!

I helped set up some "bodegas" (storage rooms) at the orphanage and also did some other random jobs. We took all of the stuff out of the big storage room and put it into two smaller rooms in order to help organize everything. We basically took everything off of the shelves and just threw it on the ground. We made a HUGE mess but it was fun. Then I installed all of the shelves in two other rooms and reorganized everything. It's always fun (and a lil stressful) to work with the kids. There were also lots of other smaller jobs - plumbing issues, fixing/installing doors, etc.

And finally, Chevon and I have gotten a lot done. We went out a couple of days to look at houses. We set up a meeting with the owner to see 3 different homes. We are still in the process of looking and Chevon is not sure if she wants to change locations. We also set up her online banking, social security, renewed her driver's license, went to Dr. appointments and I just helped with anything else that she has needed.

A couple from the church, Juan & Fabi, have been offering to help with the cooking & cleaning and that has been a HUGE blessing to Chevon. She is also continuing with her physical therapy and getting her strength and mobility back. Please keep her in your prayers as she needs wisdom to make some important decisions and needs strength to be able to do her daily activities.
