What's going on in Aguascalientes

There is a lot going on down here in Aguascalientes, Mexico. I want to keep you all informed with the highlights each month. Thank you to all who pray for and support these ministries. We are able to bless so many people and we couldn't do it without you. To God be all the glory. Gracias amigos!

June was a very busy month filled with lots of work and fun. I got to do some traveling and also got to meet many new people from the USA who were visiting down here in Mexico. Also my girls have successfully finished a huge chapter in their lives. I'm so proud of them!

I went to Puerto Vallarta for the wedding of my good friends Jose & Vivi. I brought my girls along as well. They were bridesmaids and I was a groomsman. Jose & Vivi are leaders in the church that I attend and I was so happy to be part of their wedding. We stayed at an all inclusive hotel for 3 nights and had a lot of fun celebrating on the beach. May God bless their marriage and may they live happily ever after!

I got back from the wedding on a Sunday night and that Tuesday I went right back to Puerto Vallarta. I had to pick up a team of 20 people from Destiny church which is located in Florida. They flew into Guadalajara so I went in the church van to pick them up. We went straight to Puerto Vallarta where we installed air conditioning in a new church there. One of the members of our congregation in Aguascalientes felt called to start a church in Puerto Vallarta so we wanted to bless him. It is extremely hot over there so the AC will really help out. I was in charge of the welding and made cages around the 3 units so nobody can steal them off the roof.

On the way back we lost the treading on one of our tires while we were driving on the freeway. Praise the Lord the tire didn't completely blow out! We changed it on the side of the highway and made it back safely to Aguascalientes. God is good!

Once the team got back to Aguascalientes there was a lot planned for them. We had a youth conference at the church one weekend. It was a great turnout and hundreds of youth showed up to worship God and learn from His Word. I was helping translate for the team since they are gringos and don't speak español. I also helped out with other activities. We hiked the local mountain one day; another day we painted some walls at the church and we also took them downtown. They also did a lot of other jobs. It was truly a blessing to have them here for almost 2 weeks.

My girls finished high school and will soon be starting college! Since their college is on the other side of town we decided to changes locations. We packed up everything and moved out of the house that we have been in for 3 years. Now they are living with some friends whom we have known for many years through the orphanage. I got them all set up in their new rooms by making closets and desks for them. I am so proud of them and pray that this new chapter in their lives will be full of God's blessings!

They tried to rob me! Two "cholos" hopped the wall to my property and tried to steal a wheelbarrow. It was early in the morning, the sun was out and I was home asleep. How bold! They hopped up the 10ft wall and then climbed through the window structure of my upper, outdoor patio to get onto the property. My neighbors' security cameras got the whole thing on tape. Thank God as they tried to get the wheelbarrow over the wall it got tangled up in some wires and they were unsuccessful. I installed some metal spikes to protect that opening, so hopefully that will deter any future attempts!

And finally, we had a major advancement with Chevon. She has been battling a horrible bed sore for many months now, but with regular treatments it is finally healed! We are continuing with her physical therapy and now we are starting to put more responsibility on her to do things for herself. I welded and installed some rails in her bathroom so she can pull herself up. We want her to get to a point where she can do her daily activities without the assistance of the nurses. Please continue to pray for her and her recovery.
